    Emptying the Cache and Cookies

As you open web pages, Safari saves the pages on your computer in a temporary location called the "cache." If you return to a webpage later, Safari can retrieve the webpage from the cache faster than getting it from the web, so the cache is a good time-saving device for pages you return to repeatedly.

If the content on a webpage seems outdated, you may want to empty the cache to make Safari retrieve the latest version of the page. If you think a webpage is not opening properly, emptying the cache may help.

Websites often store cookies on your hard disk. Cookies help websites identify you when you return so the site can show you pages appropriate for you. Cookies are normally harmless, but sometimes people want to remove them.

IMPORTANT: Changing your cookie preferences or removing cookies may cause similar changes in other applications, including Dashboard.

To empty the Cache and Cookies:

    • Choose Safari > Preferences > Privacy
    • Select Details under "Cookies and other website data" to remove only the SkyOne.org cache and cookies in your browser by selecting SkyOne in the list and then Remove.
    • To clear the entire cache and all cookies for every website in your browser history,, select Remove All Website Data and confirm by saying Remove Now.

    To reload the current page:

    • Choose View > Reload Page, or click the Reload icon (curved arrow) in the Safari address field.
    • Reloading a page always shows you the latest version of the page, bypassing the cache

    Block Pop-up windows

Some web pages display pop-up windows. For example, a webpage might use a pop-up window to request your user name or to display ads. You can block these pop-up windows.

Blocking pop-up windows stops only those windows that appear when you open or close a page. It does not block pop-up windows that open when you click a link.

If you block pop-up windows, you might miss important information for a webpage.

    To block pop-up windows:

    • Choose Safari >Preferences > Security
    • Check the Block pop-up windows box
